Respite Care

Respite Care is short term service that provides temporary relief and support for caregivers of dependent older adults. Respite may be provided:

• in the home of the older adult or caregiver,
• at an adult day program, a certified adult day care center, or
• in a hospital, nursing home, or group home.

Respite services reduce stress on the caregiver and help maintain a strong caregiving environment. The Aging and Disability Resource Center of Waukesha County (ADRC) contracts with several community agencies for provision of Respite Care, coordinating services to make the respite convenient for the caregiver and the older adult.
