Suspension & Dismissal Guide

If you change your mind about the divorce/legal separation process you have options to either stop or suspend your matter:

A Stipulation Suspending Proceedings to Effect Reconciliation  (FA-4144VA) is used to suspend (put on hold) the divorce/legal separation action for up to 90 days.  Both parties must agree and sign the Stipulation for consideration by the Court.

A Stipulation Dismissing Divorce/Legal Separation (FA-4143VA) is used when both parties agree to dismiss the divorce/legal separation case.

If you are not an e-filer and file a Stipulation in paper format you will receive a signed and filed copy of the final Order by providing two additional copies of the proposed Stipulation and stamped envelopes addressed to you and your spouse.
