Project Elevate

Project Elevate is a family centered, voluntary, prevention-based component of Waukesha County Health and Human Services’ Family Empowerment Initiative. Project Elevate promotes family well-being and child safety by empowering families, fostering collaboration, and contributing to better outcomes for children.

Who We Help:
Parents and caregivers in Waukesha County who have children under the age of 18 living with them over 50% of the time.

What We Do:
Empower Families: Project Elevate actively empowers families by providing them with resources, support, and tools to navigate challenges and achieve positive outcomes.

Build Collaboration: The initiative fosters collaboration among various stakeholders, including families, social workers, and community partners. By working together, they can create a supportive network that contributes to overall family success.

Create Better Outcomes for Children: Project Elevate aims to improve outcomes for children by addressing their needs within the context of a strong family unit. When families thrive, children benefit as well.

How We Do It:
When you express interest in Project Elevate, a Family Empowerment Worker will call you to make sure Project Elevate is right for you. If so, they will schedule a time to come to your home to meet with your family.

During your initial meeting, the Family Empowerment Worker will actively listen to understand your reasons for interest and share how Project Elevate can potentially help.

Through involvement in Project Elevate you will have the opportunity to use assessment tools which can give you insight into your strengths as well as possible areas of need.

Together, you’ll collaboratively develop goals that align with your purpose for calling.

The Family Empowerment Worker will assist you in building a support team to help you achieve those goals. Through regular meetings with your support team, the Family Empowerment Social Worker will assist you in developing and monitoring action steps toward meeting your goals.

Support We Can Provide:

  • Connecting with community resources such as support groups, therapists, local non-profit agencies, and many more.
  • Helping you to prioritize your needs and build upon your strengths.
  • Developing skills to advocate for yourself and your child in areas such as school.
  • Strengthening your resilience, coping skills, and support networks.
  • Developing confidence and skills to create a safe and stable environment for your child(ren).
  • Support in other areas which impact parenting and family well-being.

Getting Started:
Parents and caregivers can request a call from a Family Empowerment Social Worker by either calling (262) 896-8577 or sending an email to: familyempowerment@waukeshacounty.gov

We encourage others who believe a family may benefit from Project Elevate to share this information with them. We will only accept referrals made directly from the parent/caregiver.
