ADRC provides older adults and people with physical or developmental/intellectual disabilities the resources needed to live with dignity and security, and achieve maximum independence and quality of life. The goal of the ADRC is to empower individuals to make informed choices and to streamline access to the right and appropriate services and supports. The Senior Nutrition Program and Resource Center offer placement opportunities.

The mission of the WCDHHS Public Health Division is to promote health and wellness, prevent disease, and to foster community environments that support an atmosphere of positive behavioral choices.

The WCDHHS provides a variety of direct and collaborative services to families and their children. Some families face the problems of child abuse or neglect. Others confront difficulties, which may threaten the ability of children to live within the family. Emphasis is on protection and establishing a permanent living situation for the children with their own family. These services are provided in order to create strong environments for the health and development of children.

Student internship type: Social Work.

WCDHHS offers community-based services to adolescents and families who have been placed on supervision by the Juvenile Court, or who are at risk of coming to the court's attention. Services are provided to adolescents and their families where severe family conflict exists, or when a youth is truant, uncontrollable, or delinquent. The goal is to keep families together and work through challenging circumstances. Social workers strive to provide culturally competent services and connections to community resources. Social workers conduct home visits, school visits, office visits, and monitor Juvenile Court orders. They act as advocates for youth and families in areas such as the community, schools, and court.

The WCDHHS Administrative Services Division is responsible for coordinating and providing operational, fiscal, and management information systems support. The Division coordinates the annual budget process along with monitoring budget variances, reporting of business data analytics, department-specific business application support, computer training, and system administration. Administrative Services monitors WCDHHS compliance with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), Privacy Security/Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health (HITECH) Act, corporate compliance oversite, clinical medical records management, and centralized administrative support.

The WCDHHS Clinical Services Division provides confidential, comprehensive mental health and substance use services to Waukesha County residents of all ages. Our multi-disciplinary teams promote recovery and share a philosophical commitment to the dignity of the individual and the belief that individuals and their families can, with assistance, positively respond to the challenges that life's problems and crises present. Program areas include outpatient and inpatient mental health and substance use services, crisis intervention, clinical case management, community support, comprehensive community services, treatment courts, and civil court proceedings under Chapter 51 Wisconsin Statutes.

Student internship types: Mental Health and Substance Use Services, Occupational Therapy, Psychology, Nursing, and Nurse Practitioner - Mental Health.
