Construction Disposal Options

When dealing with construction waste, there are several disposal options available, depending on the type and amount of waste, local regulations, and sustainability goals. Here are some common construction disposal options:

When buying new carpet, check with the store about removing your old carpet. Some stores in the area only recycle carpet from their customers.

Driveway Sealant Safe Disposal:

Hardened Product: Put in weekly trash with lid off.
Hardened with water on top: Pour water down indoor drain. Put the rest outside with lid off for curbside pickup.
Liquid and Non-combustible Products: Use cat litter as drying agent. When dry place in weekly trash pickup with lid off. 
Liquid and combustible (solvent-based) Product: Take to a Household Hazardous Waste drop-off site. See our Hazardous Waste webpage for more information.

Contact your hauler to see if they will accept your materials for bulk pick up.

Consider the following to reduce the number of pallets produced by your company: 

  • discussing a take-back program with vendors
  • include take-back language in your service contracts
  • asking vendors for other options of product delivery.

Most haulers will take wood. You can recycle clean, untreated wood or have it chipped for ground cover.  Contact your garbage hauler to schedule a pickup.
