Fishing and Hunting in Waukesha County

Fishing

Waukesha County Parks Fishing Locations:

Fishing is allowed in the Waukesha County Parks listed below. You can cast a line from the shore of a pond, the banks of the Fox River, or from one of our accessible fishing piers.

Urban Fishing Program

Waukesha County Park System participates in the Urban Fishing Program, which is a cooperative effort with the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources. We currently have four ponds that are designated as urban fishing waters by the Wisconsin DNR. The ponds are located in Fox Brook, Menomonee, Minooka, and Muskego parks.

This cooperative makes fishing opportunities more readily available and encourages more people to go fishing. With the urban fishing designation, WI DNR stocks the ponds with fish.

The restricted fishing season runs annually. During the restricted season, fishing is allowed only for persons under 16 years or those with disabled persons’ fishing license. We have accessible fishing piers at Fox Brook, Menomonee, and Muskego parks.

Regular fishing season kicks off the first Saturday of May every year. All anglers must have a Wisconsin Fishing License; an Inland Trout Stamp is also required to fish for or possess trout.

Fishing Guidelines:

  • Bring your fishing pole
  • A fishing license is required in all Waukesha County Parks.
  • We encourage and support the catch and release of fish, so that many people can enjoy fishing from the lake or pond.
