Cross Country Ski Trails

Trails marked as Cross Country (X-C) Ski Trails are designated for X-C Skiing only through March 30. They are not open to hikers, walkers, or other activities, regardless of snow conditions.

Snowshoe Rentals at Retzer Nature Center

Available: Snowshoe rentals are available as conditions allow. Rentals are currently available (last updated: 2/13/2025). Thank you!

Note: Snowshoes and other traction devices are not permitted on boardwalks or on paved/concrete surfaces.

Snowmobile Trails

Beach Playground

• Playground has been removed due to safety concerns
• Restoration of the area is in progress
• Avoid area and proceed with caution during construction

Beach House Closure

• The Naga-Waukee Beach House will be closed through March 31, 2025, for exterior and interior improvements.
• No showers or plumbed restrooms will be available for public use during this time.
• An additional portable restroom facility is on-site near the beach house during this closure.

Moor Downs Seasonal Update

• The course is open daily through the winter season! Play 9 holes for just $10. Self-pay is in effect. The Clubhouse is open daily from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. through mid-December for merchandise and gift card sales. Subject to change.

Naga-Waukee War Memorial Seasonal Update

• The course will close for the season after Sunday, November 24. The Clubhouse is open 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. through December 23 for merchandise and gift card sales. Subject to change.

Canoe & Kayak Launch

• The launch will be removed for the season as of November 11.

Nature Playground

• The Nature Playground will be closed for repair for approximately 8-12 weeks starting in April 2025.

Utility Repair Work

• Emergency utility repair work is being done on the trail east of North Cushing Park Road. Work should be completed by February 10, 2025. Use caution when approaching the work.

Status: Trails are currently closed.

Pavement Restoration

• Pavement work will take place on the access road and in the parking lot, beginning June 2, 2025 and is expected to last into October. Access will remain open except for short-term, temporary closures as necessary. Parking may be limited at times.

Bridle trails open May 1 - November 1 (as conditions allow). Trails may close due to surface conditions.
