$2.00 for the first page of a document
+$1.00 for each additional page to a document
+$1.00 to have a document certified by our office (to have documents certified, they must be purchased in person or through the mail)

We have three options available to obtain land record document copies for real property located in Waukesha County. Before choosing the option that works best for you, please review the following guidelines carefully:

  • You must provide specific information necessary to process your request (i.e. document number, volume/page, reel/image, etc.). If you have a property's address or tax key number, we can show you how to get started and search the records yourself, but we cannot perform searches for you.
  • We DO NOT perform title searches on properties. Search requests for all or specific deeds, all or specific liens on a property, or other related documents throughout a property's history constitute a title search and will not be fulfilled. For requests of this nature, you can contact a professional title company.
  • The Register of Deeds office cannot provide legal advice. If you need assistance drafting or interpreting legal documents, you can contact a Real Estate Attorney, Title Company, or the State Bar of Wisconsin’s Lawyer Referral Service (https://www.wisbar.org/forPublic/INeedaLawyer/Pages/i-need-a-lawyer.aspx or call 1-800-362-9082).

Option One: Online 💻

Search, view, and purchase copies of documents online using our Public Access Website. There is no fee to search or view documents. Links to the site, a guide to help you use the site, and all our online search tools are listed below. Our database has documents fully indexed that were recorded on or before January 1, 1994, and has images of all documents that haven't been indexed going back to the early 1800s.

Option Two: In Person 🤝

Search, view, and purchase copies in person at the Land Records service desk between 8:00am and 4:00pm Monday – Friday (excluding holidays). We are unable to sell any document copies after 4:00pm daily. Please arrive no later than 3:45pm. Purchases may be made by cash, check, or credit/debit card. Register of Deeds staff will not perform title searches or Land Records research.
