Law Enforcement Services

The Waukesha County Sheriff's Department is the largest law enforcement agency in Waukesha County, the third largest Sheriff's Department in the State of Wisconsin. The Sheriff's Department has 170 uniformed professionals working 24 hours a day, seven days a week for the citizens of Waukesha County.

The Patrol Division, which is the backbone of the Department, provides a safe and secure environment for residents, businesses and visitors to Waukesha County. To ensure efficient utilization of resources, coverage is divided into five primary patrol areas: central, northeast, northwest, southeast and southwest. Also, contractual law enforcement services are provided to several jurisdictions within Waukesha County to include the Town of Delafield, Village of Lisbon, Village of Merton, City of Pewaukee, Village of Sussex, Village of Vernon and Village of Waukesha. Coverage also includes interstate I-94 and I-43.

Town of Delafield

The Waukesha County Sheriff’s Department provides the Town of Delafield with 40hrs a week of 2^nd shift coverage. The Sheriff’s Department is responsible for protecting persons and property as well as providing a safe working and living environment for the residents and visitors of the Town of Delafield.

Village of Lisbon

The Waukesha County Sheriff's Department provides Lisbon with 24-hour police protection under contract. The Sheriff's Department is responsible for protecting persons and property and for providing a safe working and living environment for our residents and visitors.

Village of Merton

The Waukesha County Sheriff's Department provides the Village of Merton with police protection under contract. The Sheriff’s Department is responsible for protecting persons and property and for providing a safe working and living environment for our residents and visitors.

City of Pewaukee

The Waukesha County Sheriff’s Department, under contract with the City of Pewaukee, provides full-time law enforcement services to the City of Pewaukee. Sheriff’s Deputies are on duty in the community 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Village of Sussex

The Waukesha County Sheriff's Department provides the Village of Sussex with 24-hour police protection under contract. The Sheriff's Department shall serve all citizens by maintaining and providing the quality means and services necessary to protect life and property through the fair and impartial of enforcement of federal, state, and local laws.

Village of Vernon

The Village of Vernon has contracted with the Waukesha County Sheriff’s Department for part-time police services for a 5-year contract which began on January 1, 2021, for 8-hour coverage, 5 days a week from 3 pm to 11 pm.

Village of Waukesha

The Village of Waukesha contracts with the Waukesha County Sheriff's Office for police patrol services.

The village has a deputy on shift four days a week. During patrol hours, the unit will provide continual patrol in the Village of Waukesha and be the first responder to all dispatched events in the village.

Oversized / Overweight Load Escorts

The Waukesha County Sheriff's Department Patrol Division also provides marked squad car escorts for oversized/overweight loads transported through Waukesha County. The escorts are done by uniformed deputy sheriffs on overtime and billed to the requester, so as not to deplete the normal patrol divisions.

If you wish to arrange an escort, you must contact the Patrol Division between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., Monday thru Friday at 262-548-7124 a minimum of twenty-four hours prior to the escort.

It is the citizen's responsibility to obtain all permits, permissions and approved routes from the Wisconsin Department of Transportation, local authorities and utilities. Permits should be secured prior to making arrangements for the escort.
