Waukesha County Parks and Land Use: Land Resources
Nonmetallic Mining
On August 1, 2001, Waukesha County adopted rules for mining rock, sand and gravel. These rules follow Wisconsin law in Chapter NR 135. The idea is to restore the areas where mining has taken place and prepare for a different use. Some municipalities have their own rules. Operators who run the mines may have to get their plans checked and approved by local leaders.
